Help with San Antonio

Hey all,
I'm not really a Spurs fan, I'm just a kid drivin home from college. I'm going to be going through San Antonio this weekend on my way home. I've never been there, and I figured I'd ask people from San Antonio about the city.

I know this isn't very basketball related, I've been kind of down on basketball since my team is about to move. But if you could give an outsider a glimpse of what to do, what to see, where to go on Saturday nights, and anything else you think would be helpful that would be great.

I also am going to book a hotel for the night, and I want to be somewhere close to the nightlife (I think the riverwalk is the best place??). Any suggestions for cheap hotels in that area would be great. Thanks.

I've never been to San Antonio but here's two pieces of advice I can give you.

Don't drink the river walk water.
Don't send your kids to their public schools.

Staying at the Riverwalk is nice for a first-timer... if you can afford it. There's some good bars on and around the walk, but the best perk is that you'll be reasonably close to the awesome-est restaurants in town:

Mi Tierra
Liberty Bar
Boudro's

Plus a crapload more. What you'll remember most about SA will be the food.

And Stampler's got it right about the schools. Spurs players build their own schools rather than chance their kids to the general populace. (Though I did go to middle school with George Gervin's daughter. ABA didn't bank, I guess.)
