Game Thread # 54 -- vs. Denver
I don't have much to say about the All Star Game Weekend. I watched pretty much everything and came away neither over or underwhelmed. I was satisfactorily whelmed. My top 7 moments, in no particular order:
- Damon Jones performing horribly in the 3-point shooting contest. Maybe now he'll shut up and go away.
- Scottie Pippen thinking his "team" had won that dumb shooting to contest, and proceeding to run around the court looking extremely enthused. He might as well held up a sign that said "Hey Mr. NBA GM, I still love this game!!!"
- A shot of Tim Duncan talking to Tony Parker on the bench during the game. Tony asks him what was wrong with his attempted alley-oop pass. Tim's response: "Nothing, I just can't jump... seriously."
- Wayne Newton's face. Sweet Zsa Zsa Gabor that was frightening!
- Gerald Green's first dunk off the side of the backboard. Definitely my favorite dunk of the night.
- The TNT commentators' reactions when they realized Dwight Howard put a sticker 12.5' up on the backboard.
- Mary J. Blige singing U2's "One." I got all tingly, but then again I do tingle easily.
Tonight marks the beginning of the Melvin Ely era. Of course, knowing Pop, he probably won't even suit up, and we'll get to watch Robert Horry actually make a couple shots, and he'll be able to move somewhat fluidly, and the announcers will fall over each other talking about how Horry is heating up for the playoffs, and they'll ignore the fact that maybe his rejuvenation is entirely due to the fact he had the last 5 days off.
Tonight's game is being recapped by PtR member rick2g. The contest standings on the right sidebar are current. Tonight's lines:
DEN @ SA -- SA -7 (Allen Iverson is listed as day-to-day)
PHX @ LAC -- LAC +5.5

Luckily, that gave me an excuse to stay home from work for the day, and do absolutely nothing.
Lemme have 100 on the Spurs... they've been playing decently lately, and Denver's gone 2-4 since the trade with AI and Carmelo in the line-up. I need to start climbin' back up the standings.

f denver Scottie Poppin' Pippen or bust
Wayne Newton is UGLY but he gets more chics than u bro.
Marc Cuban: Is it just me or isn't he being awfully quiet this year?
Even quiter is that Marc Cuban wannabe from Phoenix Suns ownership who has been even quieter.
ALso come one tell us yes or no about Scottie Pippen and can not wait till trade dead line just to C who is officially gonna be on this team.
Here my point we need another trade and atleast try out Scottie Pippen. Remember they came out n said hell no to Webber after his release but have yet said anything publically about Scottie so maybe they will get him.
Just bring him play him 3-4 mins don;t even have to score just shoots ur free-throws, pass the ball and rebound and esp play defense. SOmething that Beno and Jackie butler can not do.
Scottie Pippen Unretires to win his 7th and out 4th.
BTW here is an interesting note ever since Scottie left the Bulls have sucked and so have the Rockets and Blazers after he left them too. Coincidence? Jordan won 6 rings cos of Pippen not Zen Jackson.
p.s. Remeber Jordan

Lets be honest here he isn't Karl Malone, he averaged 5 points per game before he retired. He also only lasted 23 games before he called it quits.
He just wants attention or money, we don't need that kind of distraction on this team. And he actually believes that he is all around better player than Jordan.
