According to the Charlotte Observer, the Charlotte Bobcats are in the midst of completing a trade that will send power foward Melvin Ely to the San Antonio Spurs.
Ely is on the last year of his contract and earning $3.3 million this season. It is not clear at this point what the Spurs would be giving up in return for Ely.
The 6-foot-10 Ely is in his fifth year in the NBA, out of Fresno State. He has averaged 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds since coming into the league.
News4 WOAI confirmed that the Spurs were close to completing a deal Tuesday afternoon.
