Re: Complete Contest Standings
It really hurts to be placed in the last place. Why is Jones ahead of me?! Why oh why?! the pain!!

Re: Complete Contest Standings
Alphabetical order.  That won't be the final tiebreaker for everyone that winds up at zero.  The final tiebreaker will be number of wagers placed.  The more, the better.  Not that it matters if you finish 18th or 19th.

Re: Complete Contest Standings
It would be better if you'd just erase the names of us losers. You know, actually i'm not suprised i suck. My last name actually translates into loser.

I'm serious. I know, sad.

Because my collapse was clearly more dramatic and intriguing.

Re: Complete Contest Standings
Hey If I knew Pop was going to bench Beno and start fucking around with the lineup I wouldn't have bet it all on the Spurs to beat Dallas! I blame Pop for  my stupidity.

Re: Complete Contest Standings
Popovich does seem to be experimenting with the lineups a bit (I think there was an Eric Williams sighting last night) - I can understand him benching Beno against Dallas since he's done that sort of thing before, but it absolutely mystified me that Francisco Elson didn't get a second of playing time defending Dirk in the second half.  My only guess is that Popovich is saving that for the playoffs, and wants Oberto to get as much playing time/experience as possible against the Mavs in the meantime.  Maybe he doesn't want to play his full hand against Avery early in the season.  That kinda makes a twisted sorta sense to me.

After a watching a few more games, I've been much more impressed by Oberto than I thought I would be - especially given his opening night problems with Nowitzki.  Against most of the NBA, he's pretty effective - especially given the tendency to go small over the past two years - but against some opponents, he's just physically overmatched.  Look at his games against Yao and Nowitzki for prime examples.  I'm sure he'd be roadkill against Dwight Howard also.  That's not really a knock against Oberto - he's just not physically able to defend everyone he's going to go up against.  Kudos to Pop for giving him playing time to adjust and learn, but that shit better not carry too far into the playoffs.

Also, where the hell did Andris Biedrins come from?  I want him on our team, dammit.

chaos... panic... pandemonium... my work here is done.

Re: Complete Contest Standings
I know what you mean -- the reptilian part of my brain wants to see the team go 82-0. But when the insanity subsides, I understand that the regular season is really just the preseason with shorter rosters.

Watching (from section 220, row 10) Oberto miss his rotations in the first quarter of the Mavs game had me screaming for Pop to give Elson a chance to fight through the screens. But now that the "souvenir cup" full of Bud Light has worn off, I can see that not giving Oberto a chance to learn in November would seriously hurt his ability and confidence in May and June. (When the games actually count.)
